Two weekends ago was insanely busy! Friday, my oldest sis and I traveled to east TX to spend time with/pick up our other sister. Then we turned around the next morning and headed homeward only to leave for OK, about two hours later, with the rest of the family. Crazy!!
So, let me give you a bit of background as to why we were in OK– my Dad has been without a permanent job for a little over a year now. The job he previously had was the pastoral position at a small church in north TX, where he pastored for approximately 20 years. He had been a pastor for 10 years before that. Because my Dad is so gifted in that area and he has a passion for the work that is involved in that, he has been applying for a job as pastor at several congregations. There have been a few that actually seemed quite interested in him, but the one in OK has been the most interested.— They even asked Dad to preach a “trial” sermon, hence the reason we traveled to OK two weeks ago.

Skip ahead to *this* past Sunday. Cal and his girl (Claudia) came down, and being the analytical person I am, I noticed that Joel, Abby, Phoebe, and Claudia were all wearing gray, v-neck shirts. And all of them (except Claudia) had stripes on the shirts. So, I decided to change into *my* striped, gray, v-neck shirt to match them (I actually had originally been planning to wear that shirt that day, but I had changed my mind). And then I suggested we take photos since we were all matching. I mean, who knows when that’d happen again, right?! 😀 So we headed to a nearby park and snapped these photos.
Memorial Day!! It means: freedom, family, friends, food and fun. 🙂 Every year for the past five years, we have done a huge get-together. We hold it at a local park, that way there’s always room for our ton of friends. This year was the largest, I think– like 80-something folks came– that’s because some of our friends brought some of there friends. Hey, I’m not complaining– it was awesome! =) Anyway, the day is always spent playing games (think volleyball, ultimate frisbee, soccer, four-square, etc.), grilling hotdogs, eating picnic style, laughing, etc. 🙂 Oh, did I mention getting to hold/play with cute babies?! 😀
The S. family sent us some of their photos that they took on Memorial Day. 🙂 Enjoy!
Sunday was Mother’s Day, and boy was it busy. 🙂 We started off the day with Bible study and prayer as a family. Then Abs and I started on a special lunch especially for Grandma K. and Mom. 🙂 Our aunt and her family arrived around the time we started eating, and the fun began!
Abby and I stayed up until 1am that morning, baking four lime cheesecakes. Yeah, call us crazy. 😄 But with this warm May weather, it’s so much better to bake late in the day. Anyway, it was totally worth it, though– they tasted heavenly!
Then, Abby, our cousins Rachel and Rowena, and I went on a little adventure (a.k.a photoshoot). That was fantastic! However, they kept trying to convince me to be in some of the photos, but I honestly prefer being the one taking photos (not being in them). Ha, you probably can’t tell that from all of the selfies I post. 😉
Almost as soon as we girls got back from the photoshoot, my parents, siblings and I headed to have a picnic with Caleb, Claudia, Miss Lily B., Miss Ileana G., Maddie G., Junior G. and Isaac D. We went to a local park and weather was just perfect for it! =) The only thing over-shadowing the occasion was the fact that Phoebe wasn’t with us. 😦 I miss that gal! :,( But, looking on the bright side, she will be back for a visit in just a few days. Yay!
On Sunday, I had the opportunity to do another impromptu photoshoot– with my sis, Abby, and my cousins, Rachel and Rowena. 🙂 It was fab! Crazy awesome thing was— I had no idea what kind of outfit my cousin Rowena was bringing (I had asked to do something dressy). So when they arrived I looked out the window and saw that she brought a pale pink outfit. Well, cogs started turning in my brain, and I remembered that I have a pale pink vintage fascinator hat that I’ve been wanting to use for SO long (but hadn’t had the chance) and thought it might just go with the outfit my cousin brought. Sure enough. She brought an outfit that went with it so perfectly, it was as though we had planned it. 🙂 So, say ‘hello’ to the vintage 1950’s cousin of mine! 😉
Thank you, Abby, for taking the last three photos! =) You did a fab job– quit telling yourself you didn’t. 😉 Also, thanks for chauffeuring us to the location. 🙂
Thanks, Eden, for this tag. It has been a pleasure writing up the answers for it. 🙂 Eden sent me these 11 questions to answer: 1. Favorite person in history and why? Probably Dietrich Bonhoeffer, for his brave stand against Adolf Hitler during WWII. 2. Favorite scents? Rain, freshly cut grass, desserts baking in the oven, etc. […]
This past Sunday, my parents, Jaden and I took Phoebe out of town, so as to help our aunt who recently had surgery. She’ll be out there for a while, and I already miss her a LOT! :,( But, at least we got to see cousins, aunts and an uncle when we dropped her off. 🙂
Dad has a theological discussion with our friend, Tracey.
Yesterday, it rained- a LOT. And I took some photos of the plants, covered in droplets of water. 🙂
