Camping Trip and Another Concert

Image

In early October, my oldest brother, my two sisters and I went on a road/camping trip. We were disappointed that our two other brothers couldn’t join us, but we were determined to have fun– and we sure did! 😉

The first day of the trip, we toured a homestead where we learned a lot about fiber-crafts, blacksmithing, grist mills, etc. Very intriguing place!

On to the Texas state capitol…. 🙂

We love you, Texas!!! 😀

Apparently, there was a music festival going on in Austin while we were in town. We saw a ton of people being transported about on rickshaws.

Setting up camp for a long night. 🙂 It got dark early, so we couldn’t do much in the evening– we did play the guitar and sing some (after eating supper), but we all retired early because of the lack of lighting.

The next morning… As you can see, we really made ourselves at home, as evidenced by the laundry on our make-shift clothes-line. XD

Pheebs and Abs threw around the frisbee as we awaited the “orders” of our travel “captain”. 😉

Fresh cantaloupe from our garden served as a nice treat during our camp-out. And that’s coming from the girl who generally (strongly) dislikes cantaloupe! 😉

I loved the way the light was spilling down through the tree tops, so I had to snap this shot. 🙂

There are some impressive and gorgeous cypress trees along the creek that winds around the trails.

Phoebe did some wading by the lower water falls. Lovely place! 🙂 The water was so cool and refreshing…

Next stop, Amy’s ice cream parlor. 🙂
Image
So many delighful-sounding flavors and combinations from which to choose! It was a hard decision.
Image
I ended up getting Bee Cave Crunch. Basically a honey-cinnamon flavored ice-cream with chopped pecans. I also had chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in. Yum-o!! 😀

This is what Joel called, “Crazy ice cream faces”, hah!

I didn’t realize how much Joel and I look alike until I saw this photo!

That night we attended a concert, featuring For King & Country, and……..

I got a photo w/ Joel S., and he also signed my jacket. 🙂

That night, we went back to my brother Joel’s house and spent three more nights there. We had a barbecue with friends, helped Joel with some home-improvement projects, did some jammin’ (think guitar, keyboard, and drums), etc.

We even got to visit our friends, the G. family! 🙂

Yard Work

…Woah! It’s been *so* long since I blogged! Sorry ’bout that! I’ve just been extremely busy. Life has been full— over-flowing, really. But, hey, I’m not complaining! Busy is better than bored. 😉 This is the first of (hopefully) a series of posts—- my way of trying to make-up for being such a terrible blogger. 😉 I hope you enjoy!

Lately we’ve been doing a lot of yard work. Here, Phoebe works on re-doing one of the flower beds, in which we hope to plant a mini garden.

After we weeded it, but before the mulching and planting. Sadly, I never took a real “after” photo. 😛

Two hard workers— and yes, I did help them. But I was taking photos during my break. 😉

We also re-did the front flower beds by weeding them (it was over-grown with jasmine), mulching them and then planting surprise lilies. Aren’t they lovely?! 🙂 Needless to say, we were quite proud of our hard efforts!
