Refashion Project

  1. PicMonkey CollageDyed this lace tunic. It was originally kind of a skin tone shade of pink, but now it is royal blue (see top left photo).
  2. Then, I decided to use some of the material from the bottom of the tunic to add sleeves and raise the neckline, thus shortening it into a blouse length. It was quite a tricky task, especially the neckline (I was originally more nervous about the sleeves, but they turned out better than I had hoped). But, considering I’d never really sewn lace material, I was rather pleased with the results. 🙂
  3. I also made the skirt from a dress (several years ago).

I Danced the Night Away…

My cousins, Rachel and Rowena (pictured with me above), had come up to spend several days with us. *That*, in and of itself, was a blast. We lightened our hair (using lemon juice and warm water– and sunshine), played games, went thrifting/garage sale-ing (I know, I know– that’s not a word! :P), and stayed up to the wee hours of the morning– laughing and sharing stories. 🙂

But I think my favorite activity we shared together was the “barn” dance we went to the last night they were with us. 🙂 Think Western film style dances (technically known as “Square Dancing”) and a few “Pride and Prejudice” style dances (that style of dancing is called “English Country Dancing”. 😉  It was Rowena’s first time to dance, though we had shown her a few tips before hand. Rachel had been English Country Dancing with us before.

On this particular night, we also learned how to polka and do Contra Dancing (similar to Square Dancing, only more confusing, I think).

It was fun having Jaden (my “little” brother in the orange-y shirt) and Rachel (the young lady in the pale green top) in my group for this dance. 🙂 I also made friends with a few of the other dancers. 🙂  (photo credit: the N. family)

Dress Re-fashion

As you can tell, I shortened the sleeves, but I also made the skirt of it to tea-length (before, it was almost ankle length). So now I can wear this in not-so-cold weather *and* cold weather (I can layer it with a cardigan or jacket).

PicMonkey Collage2IMG_70332 IMG_70482 Oh, and it so happens to be my favorite shade of green– emerald! XD

Long Time No [Hear]…

Sorry folks. Once again, I’ve taken an incredibly lengthy break from blogging. My life has been quite a flurry of activity… I’ve been busy living life rather than blogging about the life I live. It’s rather more satisfying, I think.

I know. Cliche apology.

Anyway, for those of my friends who still like to know what I’m up to, I’m posting a bit of an update about what’s been going on the past few months.

At the end of the summer, our close friend, Jared C., came to see us before he moved even farther away. Hopefully we will be able to get together with him again soon. : )
IMG_5187
Our youth minister and his wife resigned, so we had a going away party for them. Here is his wife (Hannah– on the right) visiting with one of the church members (Miss Freda B.). 🙂

It’d been something like 6 months since I’d seen my best cousin, Rowena. So we had quite the blast together (as usual). 🙂
IMG_5359
We’re like twins– our nicknames are even that way. 😉 ❤
IMG_5368
All of the girl cousins together: yours-truly, Rowena, Phoebe and Abby (both of whom are my sisters), and Rowena’s older sister, Rachel. 🙂

Lovely grandma. 🙂

Hard-workers. 🙂
IMG_6024
While in town at Grandma’s, we attended a Ranger’s baseball game. My first. And hopefully, my last. 😉 I’m not at all a fan of pro-sports!

I did a little photoshoot with my sweet Cristin. 🙂 Though I took way more than the five below, I thought I’d just post these (they’re my favorites):

Family Portraits

I am sorry for being AWOL (Absent WithOut Leave) so much lately— I have not been feeling very well for several weeks and have had to miss out on a lot of things, including blogging.

About a week ago, we took family photos. I thought I would share my favorites. 🙂

I had fun making props for the photobooth for Caleb and Claudia’s wedding.

Abby turned 24 on the first. 🙂
IMG_1273
Some friends came over to help us celebrate it, bringing cake and ice cream. 🙂
IMG_1284
The next day, Phoebe and I made chicken fetuccinni alfredo, per Abby’s request. 🙂
IMG_1298
Joel came up for the day to celebrate with us. 🙂 He brought along treats (think MORE ice cream, soda pop, and chocolate)– but he had to get back home quickly, because it started to sleet and snow heavily.

Now…. on to (some of) the wedding photos! =)

January Happenings

We were a part of a lot of activities in January… Shew, I’m racking my brain just to think of half of what we did!

We three gals (briefly) got together with our friend, Clay A. 🙂

Some of our family went to AR to attend the wedding of our cousin, Gracie. 🙂

“On our way home” from AR, we stopped at Joel’s house to chill with him, Jason and Jessica, Caleb and Claudia. 🙂

Our dear “uncle”, Larry, whom we hadn’t seen in 2 years, surprised us by stopping by one afternoon. =) Sadly, he had some other things to do in town, so he only stayed for about 30 minutes. But it was SO good to see him!!! ❤

Trust me, we did a ton more than I posted about. Time just doesn’t permit for me to relate everything we did!
