Family Portraits

I am sorry for being AWOL (Absent WithOut Leave) so much lately— I have not been feeling very well for several weeks and have had to miss out on a lot of things, including blogging.

About a week ago, we took family photos. I thought I would share my favorites. 🙂

Camping Trip and Another Concert

Image

In early October, my oldest brother, my two sisters and I went on a road/camping trip. We were disappointed that our two other brothers couldn’t join us, but we were determined to have fun– and we sure did! 😉

Image
The first day of the trip, we toured a homestead where we learned a lot about fiber-crafts, blacksmithing, grist mills, etc. Very intriguing place!

On to the Texas state capitol…. 🙂

We love you, Texas!!! 😀
Image
Apparently, there was a music festival going on in Austin while we were in town. We saw a ton of people being transported about on rickshaws.
Image
Setting up camp for a long night. 🙂 It got dark early, so we couldn’t do much in the evening– we did play the guitar and sing some (after eating supper), but we all retired early because of the lack of lighting.

The next morning… As you can see, we really made ourselves at home, as evidenced by the laundry on our make-shift clothes-line. XD
Image
Pheebs and Abs threw around the frisbee as we awaited the “orders” of our travel “captain”. 😉
Image
Fresh cantaloupe from our garden served as a nice treat during our camp-out. And that’s coming from the girl who generally (strongly) dislikes cantaloupe! 😉
Image
I loved the way the light was spilling down through the tree tops, so I had to snap this shot. 🙂

Phoebe did some wading by the lower water falls. Lovely place! 🙂 The water was so cool and refreshing…

Next stop, Amy’s ice cream parlor. 🙂
Image
So many delighful-sounding flavors and combinations from which to choose! It was a hard decision.
Image
I ended up getting Bee Cave Crunch. Basically a honey-cinnamon flavored ice-cream with chopped pecans. I also had chocolate chip cookie dough mixed in. Yum-o!! 😀

This is what Joel called, “Crazy ice cream faces”, hah!

I didn’t realize how much Joel and I look alike until I saw this photo!

That night we attended a concert, featuring For King & Country, and……..

I got a photo w/ Joel S., and he also signed my jacket. 🙂

That night, we went back to my brother Joel’s house and spent three more nights there. We had a barbecue with friends, helped Joel with some home-improvement projects, did some jammin’ (think guitar, keyboard, and drums), etc.

Image
We even got to visit our friends, the G. family! 🙂

“Q for Quiet Much Too Long…” (Part 1)

I need to apologize. I have abandoned this poor blog, and the neglect is starting to show. Sure, I’ve got plenty of excuses.– I’ve been busy doing school, taking photos, do ultimate frisbee, cooking, baking, playing piano, sewing, etc. I think you get the idea. But this blog needs a bit of my time too, huh. If not for the sake of the blog, but for the sake of the readers (if I even have any, ha!).

Image
I took this photo about a year ago, but I recently came across it again and thought I’d share it. 🙂

About two weeks ago, I did a photo shoot with my sister, Phoebe. I must say, she did quite well considering that I begged her to do it. 😉

Image
Her inner meanness shows through. Okay, okay. She’s not mean. In fact she’s one of the sweetest folks around. But don’t let that sweetness fool you– she is also very mischievous! 🙂

She’s super cute, ain’t she? But then again, I’m just *slightly* biased. 😉

Cute as a button

We found a pretty arbor that was attached to a restaurant, and took the above photo there. Phoebe liked it a lot!

Which ones of these photos of Phoebe are your favorites?

You may recall that I posted about our family photo session, on Thanksgiving Day. Well, I never posted the photo of our whole family. So today, I am finally getting around to posting it.

A friend is letting my sisters and I borrow her Canon Rebel XT. It’s an older camera, but so much better than the camera we have (ours is actually a video camera). Anyway, Phoebe and I have been playing around with it. It’s quite good fun! 🙂

A couple of weeks ago, my sisters and I got together again with Abby’s bestfriend, Camille, and Camille’s cousin Chloe. 🙂 We swung by Starbucks, before going to the hotel where they were staying.

I have been wanting to do this for a very long time, but I finally made a…

It’s a pretty full skirt, so it’s fun to twirl in. 🙂

Looks good with a stylish top, belt and boots. Kinda Western style. 🙂

What do you think? Do you like it?

It also looks good with a crop cardigan and a blouse. 🙂

ImageNow, Phoebe wants me to help her make a skirt out of jeans. 🙂 I can’t wait! =)
